Monday. October 4th 1937.MISS S. Is it correct to think men 1, 2 and 3 can only be in school atthe moment when they are making real endeavours to wake up, andpossibly during self-remembering?MR. O. I don't quite understand this connection with time. It does notmean if they remember themselves they are in a school, and if theydon't remember themselves they are not in a school. School is notmystical, it has a real meaning. People think usually that the onlyquestion is to find a school, and preferably to find a school with two, three or more degrees. They don't understand that the chief thing ispreparation.MRS. A . When it is said that only a school of two degrees can beconsidered reliable, in what sense is the word 'reliable' used?MR. O. I did not say it exactly like that.MRS. A . Something very interesting was read to us last Monday aboutthe future belonging to emotional centre. Could we have this further explained?MR. O. Yes, certainly, if there is a concrete question. As it is a veryimportant question we will speak about it later.MR. R. In order to have a permanent centre of gravity, must one becontinually aware that one is asleep?MR. O. No, one cannot put it like that, in a formatory way.MR. R. Can it be said that if one of the twelve disciples had had apermanent centre of gravity, he would not have deserted Jesus on thenight of his arrest?MR. O. We cannot take the Gospel story and discuss it as historicalfacts.MR. R. Can we know whether St. Paul was man No. 4 or man No. 5?He clearly seems to have had a permanent centre of gravity, but thereare indications in the Epistles that he may not have achieved permanentunity. Could a man with permanent 'I' indulge in boasting—evenjealousy—as in the Second Letter to the Corinthians?
