Change <strong>of</strong> attitude does not bring about change <strong>of</strong> being <strong>by</strong>itself. But valuation is necessary. Nothing can be achieved without it.MRS. H. Is it possible to learn something <strong>of</strong> essence from memories <strong>of</strong>childhood?MR. O. You can if you have a good memory and can find things thatchange and that don't.MRS. H. How can we learn more about the underlayer <strong>of</strong> thoughtthat is going on all the time. Does it stop in our moments <strong>of</strong> selfremembering?MR. O. By observation only. It may stop and it may not.MISS R. I don't understand what consciousness is. It seems to besomething apart from the cosmoses.MR. O. Take it in yourself—you can know degrees in yourself. If youknow that, you know what consciousness is.MISS R. Is man's body from life to death his existence in the cosmos <strong>of</strong>organic life?MR. O. Quite right.MISS R. Is it possible for one centre to sleep when another is awake?For instance, can one consciously put moving centre to sleep?MR. O. One must be conscious for that. But it <strong>of</strong>ten happens that onecentre is asleep and another awake. For instance, instinctive centre, ormoving, is awake, and intellectual asleep.MISS R. What is the significance <strong>of</strong> the fact that the rotation <strong>of</strong> theearth corresponds in time with the breathing <strong>of</strong> organic life?MR. O. The question is to find the answer.MISS R. Can man ever be<strong>com</strong>e conscious on a scale higher than that <strong>of</strong>the sun cosmos? If not how can he ever know all?MR . O. Let him be<strong>com</strong>e conscious on his own scale first.MISS R. If a man can be conscious on the scale <strong>of</strong> a different cosmossurely the matter in him connected with these impressions must existin that cosmos?MR. O. Quite possible. I cannot answer for the situation in other cosmoses.MR. S. I seem able to interrupt day-dreams with increasing frequency.But the interruption is only momentary and others take their place. Isany progress effected <strong>by</strong> the mere act <strong>of</strong> interrupting day-dreams?
