MISS L. I believe that pleasant emotions send me to sleep more thanunpleasant emotions. Often I even lose energy through identifyingwith them.MR. O. Yes, that is it. It is identification with emotions, not theemotions themselves which cause you to lose energy.MISS L. How, apart from struggling with identification, can one usethem for the work?MR. O. There is no other way. It is necessary to struggle with identification.MRS. D. Do man, organic life and large cell form a triad?MR. O. No.MRS. D. Can we be told more about this particular group of cellswhose life is twenty-four hours?MR. O. This illustrates exactly what I said at the beginning of thisevening. These sorts of things are for you to find. To discover all thosethings which can, to a certain extent, be used in ordinary knowledge, thatis your part of the work. You can read, ask other people, and perhaps youwill be able to find something. If, after long search, you find nothing, then you can repeat your question and perhaps it will be possible to saysomething. This problem of the individual life of cells is not reallyknown, but there are things you can find out. You must read bacteriology, histology and so on, and there you may find many interesting things.MRS. D. It is said that soul goes to the moon. What is soul? Could it besent on; and how?MR. O. I do not understand what you mean by 'sent on'. Soul is acertain amount of energy and matter, that is all.MR. H. As the life of some cells in a man's body is only three secondsand of some of the others twenty-four hours, is it the eternal recurrenceof cells that prevents a man's body from disintegrating?MR. O. Maybe it is, but we cannot have a definite answer to thisquestion. There are many other possibilities, and it is necessary to useother explanations first before coming to the idea of recurrence.MR. H. What part does the eternal recurrence of a man's life play inorganic life?MR. O. We cannot speak in that way. It will be very good if we canfind some ways to determine our attitude towards recurrence forourselves, not from the point of view of organic life.M R . H . Does eternal recurrence occur in all cosmoses?
