All laws which work in cosmos work in man.MRS. G. I have been many times recently to the National Gallery andhave noticed that there are two distinct types of religious art. Onewhere the expressions show contemplation and peace and yet the
features are sometimes almost ugly. The other type shows uglinessboth in feature and expression and also gives me the impression ofpain and suffering. Can this be objective and subjective art? If so, howcan I find out the meaning of objective art?MR. O. I am sorry, but you will not find objective art in the NationalGallery. It is all subjective.MRS. S. I find I am getting a bad setback with regard to negativeemotions. There seems a much bigger force there which is almostfrightening at times, and if I can refrain from expressing it, the resultsare extreme irritation and subsequent vulnerability to all outside things.It feels as though the force is turned inward and dissipates the littlebeing I may have gained. Rightly understood should it not helpgrowth? Must we find the way ourselves or can you help?MR. O. It is not a question of understanding. There are two questionsin what you say. First, negative emotion seems to grow. Simply youdid not notice it before. Secondly, if you keep expression shut up youfeel irritable. This means you identify. You try to keep identificationand destroy expression. Necessary to begin to destroy identification.MR. A . Is a moral action—as defined by the system such an action iswithout hope of reward—a sixth type of action? Is helping others asixth kind of action?MR. O. No, it does not enter into the sixth. There are six types ofaction. Moral action we can understand in this way: it must beconscious. Only then can it be called moral. Unconscious action cannotbe called moral. It may happen good. It may happen bad.MR. A . In what type of action comes driving a car? Or tennis or golf,for instance?MR. O. No, wrong approach. You cannot approach it in this way.MR. A . From the point of view of the Table of Hydrogens, is it of anyvalue not to eat meat or fish? Dead meat comes under 'remains oforganic life'—a very dense matter. Is it of value not to introduce densematter into your body?MR. O. But nobody eats dead meat, so far as I know! This does notenter into it. Animal cells, vegetable cells, equally in 768. In any case, ifone comes to the necessity of vegetarianism, one must come fromanother side, not from this side. Otherwise it would be simply superstition.MR. F.
