I never really said that. About theaction of planets, the problem is quite different. We were speakingabout events involving masses of humanity—nations, races—and Isaid there were many phenomena we could observe in the life ofnations of which the causes may be outside of earth, possibly in theplanets. We see certain events and, depending on how we have beentaught, we ascribe them to certain causes; if we are religious we say itis the will of God; if not, we look for the causes in history, orsomething like that. But there are many other causes we do not know.That is what I meant. We can study historical causes, change ofclimate, necessity for different food, change of standard of living, butthere are many other causes. We must remember that, but we cannotstart from these.MR. B. Can it be said that any of the planets has a definite sphere ofinfluence, individually, like the moon controls movement?MR. O. I do not know.MR. H. Do I understand rightly that it is man's essence which recurs?MR. O. Quite right. About recurrence we know very little.
