Thursday. March 24th 1938. (Warwick Gardens.)MRS. D. Mr. O. said that accidents in our lives need not recur. Whatdoes recur besides our essence and our fate?MR. O. I did not speak about accidents recurring or not recurring. Ionly said that the one thing we know for certain does not recur is aschool, because it is under different laws. Even the most elementaryschool is under different laws from those governing things whichhappen.MRS. D. Are the six kinds of actions, actions on a certain scale? Forinstance, if I get up and close a door, that is not an action, is it?MR. O. Certainly closing a door is action on a certain scale, only itcannot be described, it can only be understood by trying.MR. A . There obviously must be some analogy or relation betweencentres and cosmic times, as the rate is 30, 000 in both, but I cannot seeit clearly. Could Mr. O. be good enough to make that clearer?MR. O. I do not know how I can make it clearer. It is quite right, whatyou say, but I do not know what you really want to have explained. Ifyou want me to explain further, you must elaborate your question alittle.MR. H. I am told that the shape of the moon is conical. Is this so? I wasdiscussing it with a friend (having in mind something you said about 'wedidn't see the whole of it') and he told me this was quite a well known fact.MR. O. I do not think there is any evidence for it. Why conical? What Imeant was something quite different. I meant that the moon, thisthree-dimensional body which we see, has three dimensions for itself, but not in the shape we see. If we take the earth, for instance, weknow the earth moves round the sun in one year. One year, in earth'stime, is equivalent to three-eightieths of a second in our time. Or, if wetake one breath of earth, its psychological present, that will be eightyyears. In that time earth turns eighty times round the sun and moveswith the sun in an unknown direction. So for itself it will have a quitedifferent shape from what we think of as its shape.
