whereas the influence on masses of people is uniform and always disastrous.MRS. H. Would the relation of earth to sun have any relationship toone's 'I's, for instance?MR. O. No. The difference is too big. We cannot find psychologicalinfluences. We have to wait and speak now about general principles.MISS C. You say we have a great many 'I's. Does each 'I' have aseparate centre?MR. O. No. You remember the divisions? We have thousands of 'I's;they are divided first by centres, then by personalities, and thesedivisions run into one another, are not parallel.MISS A . What is the difference between personalities and 'I's?MR. O. A personality is a permanent group, of 'I's. An 'I' is just onedesire, one wish. But this distinction is only for convenience. You mayforget it if you like, although it is like that. Just take it that 'I's aresmall, and personalities already more complicated desires.MR. M. Do planetary influences differ for man 1, 2 and 3?MR. O. They are different in their effect on man individually. But inorder to be affected individually, man has to develop essence. Man No.1 can develop essence, and so can man No. 1 and man No. 3. So men1, 2 and 3 are in that way practically on the same level. The majority ofmen are No. 1, but that refers to another idea.MRS. C. In the ordinary sense, you can find a lot about it in books.Conscious influence, that is another thing. That will come later, but wemust come to it from another side, the possibility of consciousness.MISS A . Do you mean from books we can read how the sun giveswarmth and light? That sort of influence?MR. O. Physical, chemical—how the rays bring all necessary elements.MR. M. I do not understand what you mean by conscious influence ofthe sun.MR. O. I cannot give simple examples of that. We have not enoughmaterial to talk about it now.Now we must review all that from another point of view. There aretwo fundamental laws of nature which we must understand. The firstis called the Law of Three; the second the Law of Seven. The Law of Three means that there are three original forces in theworld and that every event, every phenomenon is the result of three
