easier to forget it next time. There are many good beginnings in thework, and then this is forgotten and they start to slide down, and inthe end all that happens is that they become more mechanical thanbefore.MRS. S. Will the Society have a library from which we can borrowbooks?MR. O. There will be a library, but how it will work I cannot say yet.MRS. S. Will there be opportunities for practical work in the newhouse for people who can give one afternoon a week to it but whofind it difficult to go to Lyne?MR. O. Yes. It will be very good if people who have time and want towork give their names to Madame K and say which days they are freeand what time. At present it is too early, but in a week or maybe twoweeks the contractors will have finished work there and work willbegin which we can do ourselves. The contractors have only done onepart of the house, and there will be much work in the other part.MRS. S. You have said that we should try to avoid lying. Am I right inthinking that this applies to lying for our own escape or gain? Iobserved myself lying to a child to-day to give it reassurance, and Icannot feel that this was wrong.MR. O. [Unrecorded]MISS L. Will research in connection with the Society be organized sothat it will be possible to know what is being done, and to suggestother lines of research and find out if they would be useful?MR. O It is organized now. But certainly, if anybody suggests something, something may happen, and if they do not suggest then theyjust do not know what is happening.MRS. D. When driving a car an apparently extremely dangerous situationoccurs. I am frightened for less than a moment, then an extremelylucid state occurs—the accident does not happen and then I have timeto be frightened again. There is no doubt about the lucidity of thestate, and I feel that if it did not come the accident would. It is anexperience which remains very vivid for some time. The understanding of a system idea is practically the same experience.I feel that there is something in me which prevents me from reachingthe lucid state on a larger scale, so that I only get as far as having afeeling of shame and fear at not having understood more of thesystem
