The University is proud to bear the name of Adam Mickiewicz, one of the greatest<br />

Polish poets of the European Romanticism and often compared both at home and <strong>in</strong><br />

Western Europe to Lord G. Byron and J.W. von Goethe. Adam Mickiewicz University <strong>in</strong><br />

Poznań is one of the lead<strong>in</strong>g academic centers <strong>in</strong> <strong>Poland</strong>, with its state-of-the-art Morasko<br />

campus and a new sport<strong>in</strong>g complex. The University currently employs nearly 3000<br />

teach<strong>in</strong>g staff, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g 360 tenured professors, 500 AMU professors and over 1500<br />

doctors and senior lecturers. AMU is strongly dedicated to creat<strong>in</strong>g high-standard, multicultural<br />

educational opportunities. The University serves over 47 000 students with 14<br />

faculties offer<strong>in</strong>g BA, MA and PhD programs. Students who know Polish may choose<br />

from over 170 majors. The newest programs <strong>in</strong>clude National Security, Biophysics with<br />
