The <strong>in</strong>ternational double award is designed to provide an advanced understand<strong>in</strong>g<br />

of the EU to those wish<strong>in</strong>g to deepen their knowledge and to prepare for a career <strong>in</strong><br />

European affairs. It adopts a multi-discipl<strong>in</strong>ary approach draw<strong>in</strong>g from a wide range<br />

of courses <strong>in</strong> politics, <strong>in</strong>ternational relations, law, economics and sociology, with<br />

particular focus on the constitutional design, processes of decision-mak<strong>in</strong>g, public<br />

policy analysis and the role of the EU <strong>in</strong> the world.<br />

Students complete 60 ECTS po<strong>in</strong>ts <strong>in</strong> their first year <strong>in</strong> Krakow, and the rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g 60<br />

ECTS po<strong>in</strong>ts, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the MA dissertation, dur<strong>in</strong>g their second year of studies <strong>in</strong><br />

Kent. Dur<strong>in</strong>g year 1, students take core courses <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g a language and academic<br />

skills and methodology sem<strong>in</strong>ars, one of two key courses and two optional courses.<br />

Dur<strong>in</strong>g year 2 they take a mixture of compulsory and optional courses.<br />

All candidates must either hold a BA degree from a recognised and accredited<br />

university, or an equivalent first-cycle degree earned <strong>in</strong> countries where BA degrees<br />

are not offered. Candidates who are still study<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the above programmes may be<br />

offered a conditional place provided that they meet these requirements. This is an<br />

<strong>in</strong>terdiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary programme and students come from a variety of backgrounds, but<br />

should usually hold a degree <strong>in</strong> a related subject. Non-native speakers of English are<br />

required to prove their English language proficiency with a recognised certificate.<br />
