IMESS is a prestigious postgraduate programme offered by a consortium of leading
European universities. It is a full-time, two-year integrated study programme, with
the first year spent at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University
College London, and the second at the Centre for European Studies at the
Jagiellonian University or at one of the other partner universities. Cooperating
institutions: UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies; Charles University,
Prague, Czech Republic; Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary; University of
Helsinki, Finland; University of Tartu, Estonia.
6 250 EUR per year – applicants from the European Economic Area, 14 800 EUR per
year – third-country students
28 th January, 2011 (for scholarships). 29 th April, 2011 (self-funded)
All applicants should hold (or expect to obtain) an upper second class honours degree
(or overseas equivalent) in a relevant subject area. Where the Bachelors degree is in
an unrelated subject, candidates must demonstrate their interest in IMESS through the
supplementary questionnaire.
All students whose first language is not English must be able to provide recent
evidence that their spoken and written command of the English language is adequate
for the programme. For IMESS admissions students must provide evidence of English
proficiency – ”good” level in accordance with UCL English Language Policy.
