IMESS is a prestigious postgraduate programme offered by a consortium of lead<strong>in</strong>g<br />

European universities. It is a full-time, two-year <strong>in</strong>tegrated study programme, with<br />

the first year spent at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University<br />

College London, and the second at the Centre for European Studies at the<br />

Jagiellonian University or at one of the other partner universities. Cooperat<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>in</strong>stitutions: UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies; Charles University,<br />

Prague, Czech Republic; Corv<strong>in</strong>us University of Budapest, Hungary; University of<br />

Hels<strong>in</strong>ki, F<strong>in</strong>land; University of Tartu, Estonia.<br />

6 250 EUR per year – applicants from the European Economic Area, 14 800 EUR per<br />

year – third-country students<br />

28 th January, 2011 (for scholarships). 29 th April, 2011 (self-funded)<br />

All applicants should hold (or expect to obta<strong>in</strong>) an upper second class honours degree<br />

(or overseas equivalent) <strong>in</strong> a relevant subject area. Where the Bachelors degree is <strong>in</strong><br />

an unrelated subject, candidates must demonstrate their <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> IMESS through the<br />

supplementary questionnaire.<br />

All students whose first language is not English must be able to provide recent<br />

evidence that their spoken and written command of the English language is adequate<br />

for the programme. For IMESS admissions students must provide evidence of English<br />

proficiency – ”good” level <strong>in</strong> accordance with UCL English Language Policy.<br />

Recruitment is coord<strong>in</strong>ated by University College London.<br />
