Kazimierz Wielki University is a dynamically develop<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>stitution of higher education,<br />

today the largest <strong>in</strong> the city and the second largest <strong>in</strong> the Kujawsko-Pomorski Region.<br />

Kazimierz Wielki University is the youngest, wide-profile university <strong>in</strong> our country.<br />

It was established on September 1, 2005 but it follows 40 years of tradition of higher<br />

education <strong>in</strong> Bydgoszcz. In recent years our university has admitted about five<br />

thousand students annually. At present we have 15 thousand students. Today a rich<br />

educational range of studies covers 30 majors at three levels: bachelor and bachelor<br />

<strong>in</strong> eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g, master and doctoral studies. The university also provides almost<br />

30 postgraduate courses, develop<strong>in</strong>g qualifications and conferr<strong>in</strong>g new credentials.<br />

Respond<strong>in</strong>g to the expectations of young people and to the needs of the labour market<br />

we offer new and attractive majors. Recent additions <strong>in</strong>clude biotechnology, tourism<br />

and recreation, sociology, cultural studies, as well as additional specializations <strong>in</strong> applied<br />

l<strong>in</strong>guistics (English with Arabic), <strong>in</strong> pedagogy (social and cultural animation) and eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g<br />

studies, much <strong>in</strong> demand <strong>in</strong> the contemporary labour market (mechatronics, security<br />

eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g, materials eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g). It is students who are most important for us, and for<br />

them we constantly enrich our educational programmes. We want them to use their<br />

university time most effectively both by acquir<strong>in</strong>g new knowledge and skills, but also with<br />

<strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g free-time opportunities. We offer active membership <strong>in</strong> study groups, clubs and<br />

associations. Our students can benefit from the variety of student exchange programmes<br />

offered both at home and abroad. It’s easy – we support those who want to study abroad.<br />

The University takes part <strong>in</strong> the Erasmus exchange programme with offers for both<br />

students and staff. KWU cooperates with 50 foreign universities from 20 countries.<br />
