The specialization programme conta<strong>in</strong>s courses gathered <strong>in</strong>to three subject groups:<br />

management, formal methods <strong>in</strong> decision mak<strong>in</strong>g and application of computer<br />

science <strong>in</strong> management.<br />

The management courses refer to macroeconomic phenomena, ideas and<br />

management methods, legal basis for bus<strong>in</strong>ess activities as well as sociological,<br />

psychological and ethical aspects of management. Courses offered with<strong>in</strong> the formal<br />

methods group concern methods useful <strong>in</strong> decision mak<strong>in</strong>g such as advanced<br />

methods of bus<strong>in</strong>ess data analysis, data m<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, discrete optimization, network flows,<br />

decision games etc. The courses <strong>in</strong> the group of computer science application <strong>in</strong><br />

management – <strong>in</strong>tegrated <strong>in</strong>formation systems, identification and analysis of<br />

management problems, requirements analysis – are related to tools and<br />

methodologies applied <strong>in</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>in</strong>formation systems. It is provided that students<br />

attend organized classes and also work <strong>in</strong>dividually. At the end of the study students<br />

are obliged to prepare MSc dissertation and to pass f<strong>in</strong>al (diploma) exam.<br />

Knowledge and skills obta<strong>in</strong>ed dur<strong>in</strong>g the study give the graduates the possibility to<br />

f<strong>in</strong>d job <strong>in</strong> the management area (<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g software project management), as<br />

managers, analysts, advisors and consultants <strong>in</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess or <strong>in</strong> non-profit (public)<br />

organizations. Knowledge and skills obta<strong>in</strong>ed provide also a good basis for successful<br />

runn<strong>in</strong>g an own bus<strong>in</strong>ess activity. Knowledge ga<strong>in</strong>ed is also sufficient to apply for the<br />

third degree study (PhD, doctoral study) <strong>in</strong> the area of formal methods and computer<br />

science application <strong>in</strong> management.<br />
