Master of Arts in Development Economics (MADE) is a graduate programme which aims
at providing necessary foundations in economics and policy design to future development
specialists and advisors in international and governmental development agencies as well
as non-governmental organisations. Master of Arts in Development Economics
Programme is supported by the Representative of United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) in Poland, and meets educational standards of teaching
development economics at European and American universities. MADE is a two year
programme with a total of 800 hours (120 ECTS). MADE opens each year with altogether
40 places for international and domestic students, while 3/8 of the best candidates may
receive a tuition waiver. English is the only language of instruction as both students and
lecturers make up an international environment. The programme adheres to the strictest
academic standards and leads to the degree of magister, comparable to Master of Arts.

non EU and EFTA citizens - 2100 EUR + 200 EUR additional one-off payment.

Licencjat, magister (B.A., M.A.) degree or equivalent; competence in English certified
by the following: all Cambridge certificates /FCE, CAE, CPE, BEC, CEIBT/, IELTS,
TOEFL, TSE, EU university language certificates from the level B2 and above); two
recommendation letters from university lecturers (at least PhD).
Candidates are selected on the principle of academic excellence as shown by their
transcripts of records. Candidates should hold an undergraduate degree (Bachelor or
equivalent degree). These programmes are designed for students, who majored in
economics, mathematics, business, or social sciences. Nonetheless, in special cases,
degrees in other fields may be accepted as well. Admissions Commission carefully
reviews candidates’ applications in order to ensure that individual attention is given to
each of them. Enrolment is limited to thirty new entrants each year. In order to begin
studies i.e. be enrolled in the fall semester of 2011, which starts in October,
prospective students are requested to provide documents by required deadlines.
Motivation letter as well as letters of reference and essays in the application form are
an important source of information about the candidate, their plans and abilities to
participate in MADE. Therefore, we advise all candidates to provide the Admissions
Commission with all the relevant information.
