Master of Arts <strong>in</strong> Development Economics (MADE) is a graduate programme which aims<br />

at provid<strong>in</strong>g necessary foundations <strong>in</strong> economics and policy design to future development<br />

specialists and advisors <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational and governmental development agencies as well<br />

as non-governmental organisations. Master of Arts <strong>in</strong> Development Economics<br />

<strong>Programme</strong> is supported by the Representative of United Nations Development<br />

<strong>Programme</strong> (UNDP) <strong>in</strong> <strong>Poland</strong>, and meets educational standards of teach<strong>in</strong>g<br />

development economics at European and American universities. MADE is a two year<br />

programme with a total of 800 hours (120 ECTS). MADE opens each year with altogether<br />

40 places for <strong>in</strong>ternational and domestic students, while 3/8 of the best candidates may<br />

receive a tuition waiver. English is the only language of <strong>in</strong>struction as both students and<br />

lecturers make up an <strong>in</strong>ternational environment. The programme adheres to the strictest<br />

academic standards and leads to the degree of magister, comparable to Master of Arts.<br />

non EU and EFTA citizens - 2100 EUR + 200 EUR additional one-off payment.<br />

Licencjat, magister (B.A., M.A.) degree or equivalent; competence <strong>in</strong> English certified<br />

by the follow<strong>in</strong>g: all Cambridge certificates /FCE, CAE, CPE, BEC, CEIBT/, IELTS,<br />

TOEFL, TSE, EU university language certificates from the level B2 and above); two<br />

recommendation letters from university lecturers (at least PhD).<br />

Candidates are selected on the pr<strong>in</strong>ciple of academic excellence as shown by their<br />

transcripts of records. Candidates should hold an undergraduate degree (Bachelor or<br />

equivalent degree). These programmes are designed for students, who majored <strong>in</strong><br />

economics, mathematics, bus<strong>in</strong>ess, or social sciences. Nonetheless, <strong>in</strong> special cases,<br />

degrees <strong>in</strong> other fields may be accepted as well. Admissions Commission carefully<br />

reviews candidates’ applications <strong>in</strong> order to ensure that <strong>in</strong>dividual attention is given to<br />

each of them. Enrolment is limited to thirty new entrants each year. In order to beg<strong>in</strong><br />

studies i.e. be enrolled <strong>in</strong> the fall semester of 2011, which starts <strong>in</strong> October,<br />

prospective students are requested to provide documents by required deadl<strong>in</strong>es.<br />

Motivation letter as well as letters of reference and essays <strong>in</strong> the application form are<br />

an important source of <strong>in</strong>formation about the candidate, their plans and abilities to<br />

participate <strong>in</strong> MADE. Therefore, we advise all candidates to provide the Admissions<br />

Commission with all the relevant <strong>in</strong>formation.<br />
