The graduates of Thermal Power Systems and Installation Studies obta<strong>in</strong> higher education<br />

<strong>in</strong> the field of power eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g, construction of power mach<strong>in</strong>es and <strong>in</strong>stallations,<br />

transmission and distribution of thermal and electric energy. Students acquire<br />

an extensive knowledge <strong>in</strong> the field of heat<strong>in</strong>g eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g. They acquire necessary<br />

skills to design and operate large thermal-electric power stations and a knowledge <strong>in</strong><br />

the field of design, construction and operation of <strong>in</strong>dividual heat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>stallations.<br />

Graduates can carry out process and strength calculations and design power mach<strong>in</strong>ery<br />

such as steam and gas boilers, electrical generators, pumps, fans, steam and water<br />

pipel<strong>in</strong>es.<br />

Dur<strong>in</strong>g their studies, students acquire practical skills <strong>in</strong> power mach<strong>in</strong>es design<br />

and numerical model<strong>in</strong>g us<strong>in</strong>g commercially available software CAD (Computer<br />

aid design), FEM (F<strong>in</strong>ite Element Method) and CFD (Computational Fluid<br />

Dynamics).<br />

The graduates also become the specialists <strong>in</strong> the field of renewable resources utilization<br />

such as water energy, biomass combustion, solar, w<strong>in</strong>d and geothermal energy, and fuel<br />

cells. They are well prepared <strong>in</strong> the field of nuclear eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g and dissipated energy<br />

resources: combustion eng<strong>in</strong>e- generator, gas turb<strong>in</strong>e-generator.<br />

Students of ďthe Thermal Power Systems and InstallationĒ studies acquire the knowledge<br />

<strong>in</strong> the field of the design and operation of the environment protection systems<br />

and <strong>in</strong>stallations <strong>in</strong> power eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Students who have completed Bachelor <strong>Programme</strong> <strong>in</strong> Mechanical Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g or<br />

related field and earned Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply for the programme.<br />
