This two-year programme presumes basic knowledge in mathematics, general
physics, classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, algorithms and data structures,
numerical methods, as well as a good command of a programming language (preferably
C, C++ or FORTRAN). It introduces basic knowledge necessary for simulations
of various physical phenomena (e.g. surface diffusion in solids) as well as for applications
of computer physics methods outside physics, e.g. in economy (stock market
analysis), geology (flows through rocks) or biology (biological evolution).
In addition to obligatory courses, students can choose among several specialized and
monographic lectures. They can prepare their M.Sc. thesis joining one of the
research groups working in many areas of computer physics, e.g. nonlinear dynamics,
surface science, hydrodynamics. Graduates are well-prepared to pass exams for
PhD studies in computer physics or to work outside the Academia in business or
research.

To access graduate Studies in Computer Physics a candidate is required to have
a Bachelor’s Degree in related area and to meet English language requirements.
Students are expected to have knowledge of general physics, basic quantum
mechanics and introductory solid state physics.
