The programme provides the basic skills necessary for research in an academic
environment as well as in industry. Computer science and mathematics form the
theoretical foundations for a major part of bioinformatics, using methods from
subdisciplines including discrete mathematics, theoretical computer science, logic,
artificial intelligence, probability theory, mathematical statistics, database design,
programming, optimization theory, simulation and visualization methods. During the
two-year master’s studies students acquire knowledge about such problems as
computer systems modelling and analysis, programming in integrated environments,
and image processing. Graphical methods – like visualisation and modelling are tools
that assist in analyzing and visualizing biomedical data. In the final study year students
prepare their master’s theses and on passing the master’s examination they are
granted a master’s degree in computer science.
The implementation of this new field of study (established in accordance with the
latest trends in the development of computer science) aims to prepare specialists with
a multidisciplinary education who will find careers in the sphere of both biological
institutions and informatics centres.

200 EUR – application fee.

Candidates will be accepted on the basis of records of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
in Computer Science or related fields of study. Full list of the required documents is
available on the university’s website.
Opening of the programme depends on the number of candidates.
