Contemporary energy systems must fulfill the pr<strong>in</strong>ciple of susta<strong>in</strong>ability. We should<br />

not adversely affect the environment and economy prospects of our and future generations.<br />

In order to meet these requirements we need knowledge <strong>in</strong> various fields<br />

which <strong>in</strong>volve the analysis of energy systems development.<br />

The course of Susta<strong>in</strong>able Energy Development <strong>in</strong>cludes two balanced groups of subjects.<br />

The first group focuses on energy technologies and comprises the follow<strong>in</strong>g<br />

subject areas: physics and chemistry of energy, and contemporary energy technologies<br />

with focus on renewable technologies. The second group refers to energy plann<strong>in</strong>g<br />

and forecast<strong>in</strong>g processes, and comprises the follow<strong>in</strong>g subjects: management,<br />

economics, audit<strong>in</strong>g, plann<strong>in</strong>g and forecast<strong>in</strong>g. The course concentrates on provid<strong>in</strong>g<br />

practical knowledge, and therefore classes, laboratories and projects predom<strong>in</strong>ate<br />

the course programme.<br />

Our aim is to enable students to ga<strong>in</strong> the ability to analyse and optimise plans of<br />

energy systems development. The selection of energy carriers and technologies while<br />

tak<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>to consideration the economic, environmental and technological issues is<br />

the basis for build<strong>in</strong>g harmonized development plans. The competence and knowledge<br />

of graduates constitute a firm base for their contribution <strong>in</strong>to energy systems<br />

development.<br />

Tuition for the first year is higher to <strong>in</strong>clude additional, nonrefundable 200 EUR<br />

5000 EUR - per year<br />
