This is a high-level postgraduate course taught in English which aims to provide
graduate students with interdisciplinary knowledge, information and expertise in
European affairs, building understanding of the political, economic and cultural
character of both the region of Central and Eastern Europe and the European project
which today provides its context. Students follow core, specialisation and optional
classes in an array of fields according to their interests, including politics, EU affairs,
literature, history, economics and Jewish studies over the course of two to four
semesters of study. Language classes, an MA seminar and an MA thesis are also
elements of the programme. Three specialisations are available:
– EU Studies: focuses in the EU and European institutions and the key issues facing
them, and students develop a Central European perspective on the European
integration process
– Central and Eastern European Studies: gives students a general overview of the
politics, history, society and culture of the countries of CEE
– Europeanisation and Governance in Central and Eastern Europe: a new stream,
featuring seminars organised in tandem with ARENA – Centre for European Studies
at the University of Oslo and other partner universities, aiming to provide a deep
knowledge of the processes of Europeanisation and democratisation in CEE.
5 000 EUR – citizens of EU and candidate countries and with Polish family
background, 7200 EUR – citizens of all other countries, 50 EUR/250 PLN/75 USD
