The binational Polish-German course of studies is a joint undertaking of the University
of Szczecin and Hochschule Wismar. Apart from Polish and German citizens students
from other countries can also apply. The courses delivered at both universities form
one consistent programme: in the first and second semesters it takes place at the
University of Szczecin, in the third and fourth semesters at Hochschule Wismar and in
the fifth and sixth semesters at one of these universities according to the students
individual choice with distance-learning support. The practical training takes place in
a company or institution in either of these countries. The Bachelor of Science degree
gives students the possibility to start on their career paths after they complete a 3-year
programme but it also enables them to continue their education to obtain a Master of
Science degree. Graduates in IT in Business can deal with any phase of designing and
making use of information and communication systems. They are able to evaluate the
goal and possibilities of implementing these systems as well as creating organizational
structures indispensable to making use of them. Computer science is considered here
a tool to achieve company targets rather than its key goal. Wider use of information
technology in companies and public administration requires skilled employees. It gives
employment opportunities in any phase of designing and using information and
communication systems both in private companies and in public administration.
Graduates with this degree have an excellent start on their career path, especially in
the central and eastern European economic area. Our graduates deal not only with
business consulting and project management, they also work in marketing or
advertising departments as programme designers or managers of their own companies.

Hochschule Wismar
• Each university will accept candidates according to its own rules
At the University of Szczecin candidates are ranked and qualified according to their
A-level performance.
