The <strong>in</strong>terdiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary character of education, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g methods and research<br />

apparatus of languages and literatures studies, ethnology, history and political<br />

science, allows to achieve knowledge about the l<strong>in</strong>gual, ethnic and political<br />

conditions, <strong>in</strong>volv<strong>in</strong>g the identity questions, and their current forms <strong>in</strong> Balkan<br />

countries. The specific contam<strong>in</strong>ation of those four realms of science leads to atta<strong>in</strong><br />

an ability of synthesiz<strong>in</strong>g and apply<strong>in</strong>g those theories <strong>in</strong> practice, learns to th<strong>in</strong>k<br />

through the dialectics of analysis and synthesis, to formulate and verify hypotheses<br />

and evaluate the current cultural, politic and economic phenomena <strong>in</strong> the Balkans.<br />

A person who graduates Balkan studies will ga<strong>in</strong> a high level of competence <strong>in</strong><br />

mak<strong>in</strong>g cultural and social analysis and look<strong>in</strong>g for employment <strong>in</strong> the government<br />

and self-government adm<strong>in</strong>istration, national <strong>in</strong>stitutions, European Union authority,<br />

cultural, educational, publish<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>stitutions, foundations, economic <strong>in</strong>stitutions and<br />

mass media.<br />

A graduate of the unique Balkan studies will be well prepared to undertake<br />

researches and cont<strong>in</strong>ue studies of the third degree (PhD studies).<br />

A graduate of the second degree of the unique Balkan studies ga<strong>in</strong>s the practical<br />

knowledge of two regional languages – one Slavonic that must be chosen from the<br />

group of follow<strong>in</strong>g languages: Bulgarian/Macedonian/Serbian (l<strong>in</strong>gual fluency level<br />

B1) and one non-Slavonic conta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> the next group of languages:<br />

Albanian/Greek/Romanian/Turkish (l<strong>in</strong>gual fluency level B1). The practical<br />

knowledge of those languages is supplemented with comprehensive skills from the<br />

range of Balkan contemporary literature and of the current cultural, social, political<br />

and economic transformations <strong>in</strong> the Balkans.<br />
