Medic<strong>in</strong>al chemistry is a scientific discipl<strong>in</strong>e at the <strong>in</strong>tersection of chemistry and<br />

pharmacy. Our students are offered courses on design<strong>in</strong>g, synthesiz<strong>in</strong>g and the<br />

identification, of new chemical entities suitable for therapeutic use as well as an<br />

isolation and identification of natural compound of potential therapeutic activity.<br />

They also study the mode of action of exist<strong>in</strong>g drugs, their methods of identification<br />

and biological properties, as well as their quantitative structure-activity relationships<br />

(QSAR). The courses are offered by a specialists <strong>in</strong> organic, <strong>in</strong>organic and physical<br />

chemistry as well as biochemists and computational chemists. Medic<strong>in</strong>al chemistry<br />

on our University comb<strong>in</strong>es: organic chemistry, biochemistry, computational<br />

chemistry, molecular biology, statistics, and physical chemistry. The diploma project<br />

is performed on our University as well as on Medical Academy of Wroc aw, and<br />

Institute of Immunology and Therapy of the Polish Academy of Sciences <strong>in</strong> Wrocław.<br />
