Medicinal chemistry is a scientific discipline at the intersection of chemistry and
pharmacy. Our students are offered courses on designing, synthesizing and the
identification, of new chemical entities suitable for therapeutic use as well as an
isolation and identification of natural compound of potential therapeutic activity.
They also study the mode of action of existing drugs, their methods of identification
and biological properties, as well as their quantitative structure-activity relationships
(QSAR). The courses are offered by a specialists in organic, inorganic and physical
chemistry as well as biochemists and computational chemists. Medicinal chemistry
on our University combines: organic chemistry, biochemistry, computational
chemistry, molecular biology, statistics, and physical chemistry. The diploma project
is performed on our University as well as on Medical Academy of Wroc aw, and
Institute of Immunology and Therapy of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Wrocław.
