Częstochowa University of Technology is the oldest and the largest higher<br />

education <strong>in</strong>stitution <strong>in</strong> the region. It is attended by about 14 000 students at the<br />

6 faculties. Students can choose from 90 specialities <strong>in</strong> 17 fields of study. More than<br />

800 academic staff are employed at the Częstochowa University of Technology,<br />

<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g 145 professors and 485 doctors. All faculties have academic rights to confer<br />

doctoral degrees (<strong>in</strong> 9 scientific discipl<strong>in</strong>es), and three faculties have rights to confer the<br />

status of habilitated doctor (assistant professor). Częstochowa University of Technology<br />

produces highly educated students, so over 4000 alumni a year emerge properly<br />

prepared for the challenges, brought by progress <strong>in</strong> science and technology. Thanks to<br />

its academic staff and the quality of their research, Częstochowa University of<br />

Technology has an established position on the scientific maps of both <strong>Poland</strong> and<br />

Europe. The University runs a wide range of activities at an <strong>in</strong>ternational level,<br />

<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g scientific and educational programmes <strong>in</strong> cooperation with foreign partners<br />

with<strong>in</strong> the framework of projects funded by the European Union. Academic workers<br />

at the University actively participate <strong>in</strong> world research, present<strong>in</strong>g their scientific<br />

achievements at <strong>in</strong>ternational conferences and symposiums. All the eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g fields<br />

of studies are accredited by the European Federation of National Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Associations (FEANI), which means that graduates of the Częstochowa University of<br />

Technology can be awarded the title ”European eng<strong>in</strong>eer”. At our University, as at the<br />

majority of European Union higher education <strong>in</strong>stitutions, students are evaluated with<br />

the use of a credit system. This allows students to study <strong>in</strong> foreign academic centres by<br />

tak<strong>in</strong>g advantage of opportunities to participate <strong>in</strong> European programmes.<br />
