The specialization programme focuses on the scientific analysis of physical, environmental,<br />

technical, socio-economic and legal aspects of water resources management.<br />

It aims to provide students with understand<strong>in</strong>g of these aspects and their mutual <strong>in</strong>teractions<br />

and with ability to devise susta<strong>in</strong>able and technically effective solutions to<br />

water resources management. An application of the Information Systems plays an<br />

important role <strong>in</strong> achiev<strong>in</strong>g this aim.<br />

The taught programme is divided <strong>in</strong>to five thematic blocks: Hydrological Processes,<br />

Water Management, Information Systems, Mathematical Modell<strong>in</strong>g and Governance.<br />

The subjects are realized dur<strong>in</strong>g four semesters:<br />

a) First year: Environmental chemistry, Environmental management, Reliability and<br />

safety of eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g systems, Spatial plann<strong>in</strong>g, Statistics, Environmental monitor<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

Pro-ecological technologies, Technology and management of construction eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

Computer <strong>in</strong>formatics systems, Advanced hydrology, Advanced meteorology, Soil<br />

physics and hydrology, Environmental Information Systems, Land and water development,<br />

Water reservoirs<br />

b) Second Year: River hydromorphology and restoration, Remote sens<strong>in</strong>g techniques,<br />

Ground water flow modell<strong>in</strong>g, Surface water modell<strong>in</strong>g, Environmental geotechnics,<br />

Pollution and protection of water, Waste water management, Urban flood management,<br />

Optimisation techniques, Integrated water resources management, Water<br />

resources economics, Diploma sem<strong>in</strong>ar<br />

2200 EUR per one academic year<br />

Completed the first degree of studies.<br />

Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g degree or equivalent <strong>in</strong> Environmental Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Qualification based on average results from the first degree studies.<br />

Verified command of English.<br />
