Materials Science is very interesting, multi-disciplinary field of science where
chemistry, physics and technology meet together. The scientists prepare new
materials of the wide range of scale that have unusual properties and may find new
applications. The two-year Master of Science study programme is designed for
graduates of chemistry who want do develop their knowledge in the interdisciplinary
research of Materials Science. The principles of material chemistry studies are to give
knowledge about various aspects of material science and to introduce students to the
many interdisciplinary experimental methods used in this field. The programme is
delivered in very well equipped modern laboratories. In details programme of
chemistry materials studies includes the following lectures and laboratories: solid
state chemistry, crystallography, instrumental analysis, spectroscopy, theoretical
chemistry, physico-chemistry of interfaces, technology and properties of new
polymers, optical fibres technology and many elective courses. Most of them are
realized in the first year of study. In the second year most of the courses have
individual character (e.g., diploma seminar, diploma project). In sum programme of
all courses consists with 270 hours of lectures, 765 hours of laboratories and 105
hours of seminars.
