This program is designed for all students with a BA in English or Arts. The fields of
research the student may pursue are: literary studies, linguistics, and applied linguistics.
Literary studies embrace British and American literature, literature in English,
cultural studies and literary theory. Courses in linguistics offer a variety of approaches
to language, ranging from generative to cognitive linguistics, with pragmatics and
anthropological linguistics. Applied linguistics focuses on theories and methods of
teaching English as a foreign language. Main MA courses are supplemented by selective
courses designed to further students' interests in the chosen fields and by an
advanced composition course (academic writing).
