A second-cycle programme <strong>in</strong> International Economics is <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>gly essential <strong>in</strong> the<br />

global economy. The programme offers cutt<strong>in</strong>g-edge knowledge and skills <strong>in</strong> the field of<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternational economics and is the best master <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational economics <strong>in</strong> Central and<br />

Eastern Europe. The programme places emphasis on <strong>in</strong>-depth knowledge of analytical<br />

tools and empirical research techniques, aim<strong>in</strong>g at produc<strong>in</strong>g top-class economic<br />

analysts. Through the study of the diverse forces that are shap<strong>in</strong>g the global economy and<br />

its <strong>in</strong>stitutions, the M.A. Program <strong>in</strong> International Economics at the University of Warsaw<br />

equips its graduates to function effectively <strong>in</strong> a rapidly chang<strong>in</strong>g world. The selection of<br />

courses aims at provid<strong>in</strong>g students with solid bases of economics at advanced level and<br />

mak<strong>in</strong>g them familiar with the latest issues and <strong>in</strong>struments related to <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />

economics used <strong>in</strong> scientific research, bus<strong>in</strong>ess and <strong>in</strong>ternational <strong>in</strong>stitutions. The<br />

structure of the programme allows for l<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g the compulsory subjects at the first year<br />

with selected specialized subjects at the second year of studies. First year students are<br />

required to complete advanced courses on the theory of economics <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g advanced<br />

macro- and microeconomics, macro- and microeconometrics, mathematical methods as<br />

well as courses which constitute <strong>in</strong>troduction to specializations which <strong>in</strong>clude monetary<br />

economics, <strong>in</strong>ternational migrations and theory of <strong>in</strong>ternational trade. Dur<strong>in</strong>g the second<br />

year of studies each student follows an <strong>in</strong>dividual course of studies by select<strong>in</strong>g<br />

specialized classes. A strong emphasis on the ability to use analytic <strong>in</strong>struments for solv<strong>in</strong>g<br />

real problems <strong>in</strong> practice and implement<strong>in</strong>g new solutions stimulates creativity and<br />

prepares students for challenges they will face at further stages of their professional<br />

career. Students of the International Economics programme are also offered the<br />

possibility to obta<strong>in</strong> a double-degree diploma: magister degree (comparable to Master of<br />

Arts) <strong>in</strong> International Economics issued by the University of Warsaw as well as a master<br />

degree diploma obta<strong>in</strong>ed at one of the foreign Universities under bilateral agreement.<br />

Licencjat, magister (B.A., M.A.) degree or equivalent; competence <strong>in</strong> English certified<br />

by the follow<strong>in</strong>g: all Cambridge certificates /FCE, CAE, CPE, BEC, CEIBT/, IELTS,<br />

TOEFL, TSE, EU university language certificates from the level B2 and above); two<br />

recommendation letters from university lecturers (at least PhD).<br />
