A two year study programme, including the completion of an Master’s thesis, allows
students to gain a comprehensive knowledge and master their practical skills within the
field of their specialization, including translation, teaching, mass communication and
journalism, advertising and promotion. Master’s seminars are offered in the following
areas: linguistics, applied linguistics, linguistic pragmatics, British literature and culture,
and American literature and culture.
Apart from courses of general English at the advanced level, ESP and English for academic
purposes, students choose their major fields of specialization including general specialization,
teaching and translation, and one of the following specialization modules:
Language in communication, persuasion, argumentation focusing on describing and
analyzing the complex linguistic strategies of effective interpersonal and institutional
communication and persuasion.
Media and political discourse in theory and practice exploring, examining, and assessing
the role of language as a tool of persuasion and manipulation in various domains
of public discourse. Corpus and computational linguistics introducing theoretical foundations
of computational and corpus linguistics as well as their applications in specific
areas. Theatre, film and media studies developing a variety of practical and analytical
skills in the field of mass media, film and theatre, and guaranteeing extensive contact
with the masterpieces of contemporary visual culture.
Popular culture studies introducing heterogeneous perspectives on interpreting the
phenomena of popular culture, including multiple discourses and genres (film, the
media, music, literature).
The studies are free of charge for Polish and the EU/EFTA citizens.
The charge of 2000 EUR/year applies for students from outside the EU/EFTA, exclusive
of an additional 200 EUR charge that covers registration fee. For students of Polish
origin the tuition is reduced by 30%.

Candidates holding higher education (Bachelor) diplomas or Master degrees in English
studies or related areas may apply. A diploma and a transcript of records showing the
courses/grades and a certificate of proficiency in English for foreigners (unless the first
