Dear readers, students and lecturers!
The following staff members of the Latvian Academy of Sport Education – Assist. Prof. Inta Budvike (the Latvian
language), Assist. Prof. Iveta Boge (the English language), Assist. Prof. Ludmila Malahova (the German language), all from the
Department of Management and Communication Science, together with Prof. Eduards Popovs (the Russian language) from the
Department of Biomechanics are continually working under my guidance to coordinate sports terminology used in different
languages with sports terminology (lexis) used in the Latvian language. We offer a sports dictionary in four languages that is
compiled so that knowing the term used in one of the four languages (Latvian, English, German and Russian) you can find its
translation in other three languages. To do this, in the window “Find” write the term you know in any of the four languages (if you
cannot see the window “Find”, press CTRL + F). Pressing “Next” or “Previous” you can find other related terms. The dictionary is
compiled as a study aid for multilingual education and to be of help for ERASMUS students, as well as for everyone in lifelong
education studies.
As such dictionary where one of the languages is Latvian is compiled for the first time you are welcome to comment it, as
