– optimisation of ressources: There must be a university-wide concentration
of the scarce resources available for information and communication
services in order to ensure their optimal use.
Augsburg University is firmly convinced that these targets can be achieved
by means of the new organisational structure. The core element will be the
new IT service center (ITS). It is there that information and communication
services for studies, teaching, research and administration will be gathered
under one organisational roof. Its essential structural elements are
– the four pillars (competence areas) for the supply of information and
communication services
– the governing committee, vested with the competence to decide and
the ability to act
– the service groups, going beyond the boundaries of faculties and departments
and working for the university as a whole
