7.2. KIM – LPS
In the first phase KIM is especially intended to promote excellence in
teaching at the university by representing as an efficient infrastructure being
oriented to integrated services, a technological basis for excellent teaching
and learning and thus provides a fundamental incentive system.
In this context, especially for the support of teaching and study, the application
services
– Course management
– Examination management
– Study assistance system
were selected which are to be analyzed, realized and integrated within the
scope of the first project phase of the KIM realization. Moreover the selection
was made on the one hand with regard to integration possibility and
necessity but on the other hand also in consideration of the priority. Last
but not least these application services were chosen in such a way that at
the end of the first project phase a validation can be performed.
In further project phases the additional services in teaching and study
– Teaching/learning systems
– Media services and management
and other shall be analyzed, realized and integrated.
Course management
In this field a flexible web portal will be created supporting organizationally,
in its contents and structurally teachings and study with a multitude
of functions. The basis of this domain is the software module LSF of
the HIS GmbH (HIS limited company) which will be extended in a cooperation
with HIS by service-oriented interfaces.
Examination management
By using an examination management system an efficiency increase
shall be caused particularly of the administrative processes concerning examinations
and examination results where up to now obvious delays by
several media diruptions can be stated. Also at this point the software of
HIS is the basis which will be appropriately extended.
