5.2.2 Unitary provision of IT-applications
The IT service providers in Göttingen supply all local IT-customers with
their main outputs. This includes: SAP to support administrative operations
for almost 2,000 end-users; the modules HR (14,000 pay-stubs per month),
FI/CO (over 6 million accounting entries per year), as well as modules for
materials management, maintenance etc.
5.2.3 Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM)
A large CAFM-project containing nine modules has been successfully
launched for the university and the school of medicine. A system for subscription
management was integrated at the same time. This project contributes
to the fulfillment of the economic requirements for university optimization
in Lower Saxony (Hochschuloptimierungskonzept HOK). In the
future, security measures and matters of environmental protection, which
can be depicted and improved on a process basis, will be integrated.
5.2.4 Shared platform for the evaluation of research and lectures
(FACT)
Since 2005, the University of Göttingen has been using a shared platform
to evaluate research and lectures. Since 2001, the FACTScience system
has been used to support the internal evaluation of research and the
control of resources relevant for research. Based on experiences, late in the
year 2005 the 12 remaining departments adopted the procedure that had
already been used in the medical department: This procedure organizes
scientific performances into the categories „publications‟ and „third-partyfunded
proceeds” to then evaluate them. Using this method, the budget may
be rewarded based on each groups‟ achievements. This procedure establishes
a unitary all-campus system for the evaluation of the university‟s and
the school of medicine‟s research as well as for the information technology
department (school of medicine).
In 2005 the university, together with the medical department, also introduced
Evasys, a shared platform which enables students to evaluate their
lectures.
