– interdisciplinary co-ordination and flexibility with regard to the use
of resources (budgets for personnel and physical resources, acquiring
external funds), and to planning and implementing interdisciplinary
services, developing interdisciplinary fields and personnel development,
– concerted representation of the ICMC and its sections inside as well
as outside the university (public relations) and vis-à-vis the president
and/or the executive board of the university (budget negotiations)
and to communicate a service culture for the ICMC.
7. State of Implementation
The annual report of the ICMC for 2005 contains a complete survey of its
achievements so far 1 . Its activities and the results of its work can be summarised
as follows.
– public relations work and other activities, uniform presentation of its
activities outside the university (information material, flyers, WEB
site, etc.), guided tours,
– internal and external training and qualification measures (across-theboard),
– combining the library DV and the administration DV to create a new
centre for business data processing,
– interdisciplinary projects on the following subjects: accounting and
access management (identity management), fitting out the new
ICMC building with network and computer equipment and facilities,
e-learning and e-publishing functions, university-wide use of a WEB
content management system, introduction to HIS/LSF, further development
of a virtual organisation of the entire study programme,
– management of a joint budget (including financing of initial
furnishings and equipment) and joint acquisition of external funds.
