that oppositi<strong>on</strong> to Pelagius could not have influenced him<br />

in forming it. With more propriety may it be said that<br />

oppositi<strong>on</strong> to such doctrines as those <strong>of</strong> Augustine, or to<br />

<strong>the</strong> practical c<strong>on</strong>sequences which, through misc<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong><br />

or abuse, were derived from such doctrines, had no small<br />
