beneficiary and society is the contributor. So duties and<br />

rights correspond harmoniously. Responsibility and concern<br />

are mutual. There is no state to dom<strong>in</strong>ate the <strong>in</strong>dividual and<br />

abrogate his personal entity. Likewise, there is no <strong>in</strong>dividual<br />

or class of <strong>in</strong>dividuals to exploit the society and corrupt the<br />

state. There is harmony with peace and mutual security.<br />

There is a constructive <strong>in</strong>teraction between the <strong>in</strong>dividual<br />

and society.<br />

Besides the unity of humanity <strong>in</strong> orig<strong>in</strong> and ultimate<br />

goal, and besides this mutual responsibility and concern, the<br />

social Life of <strong>Islam</strong> is characterized by cooperation <strong>in</strong> good-<br />

ness and piety. lt is marked with fuli recognition of the <strong>in</strong>di-<br />

vidual and his sacred rights to life, property and honor. It is<br />

also marked with an effective role played by the <strong>in</strong>dividual<br />

<strong>in</strong> the doma<strong>in</strong> of social morals and ethics. In an <strong>Islam</strong>ic soci-<br />

ety the <strong>in</strong>dividual cannot be <strong>in</strong>different. He is enjo<strong>in</strong>ed to<br />

play an active part <strong>in</strong> the establishment of sound social mo-<br />

rals by way of <strong>in</strong>vit<strong>in</strong>g to the good and combat<strong>in</strong>g the evil <strong>in</strong><br />

any form with all lawful means at his disposal. In so do<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

not only does he shun evil and do good but also helps others<br />

to do the same. The <strong>in</strong>dividual who feels <strong>in</strong>different to his<br />

society is a selfish s<strong>in</strong>ner; his morals are <strong>in</strong> trouble, his con-<br />

science is <strong>in</strong> disorder, and his Faith is undernourished.<br />

The structure of social life <strong>in</strong> <strong>Islam</strong> is very lofty, sound<br />

and comprehensive. Among the substantial elements of this
