MUHAMMAD: THE LAST PROPHET<br />

The Muslim's belief that Muhammad is the Last Prophet<br />

of God has been misunderstood by many people, and, hence,<br />

needs an explanation. This belief does not, <strong>in</strong> any way, mean<br />

that God has closed His door of Mercy or has retired. It does<br />

not impose any restriction on the rise of great religious per-<br />

sonalities, or bar the emerg<strong>in</strong>g of great spiritual Ieaders, or<br />

obstruct the evolution of great pious men. Nor does it mean<br />

that God has done the Arabs, from whom Muhammad was<br />

chosen, His Last Favor to the exclusion of evervbody else.<br />

God is not partial to any race or age or generation, and His<br />

door of Mercy is ever open and always accessible to those<br />

who seek Him. He speaks to man <strong>in</strong> either of three ways;<br />

(1) By <strong>in</strong>spiration vvhich occurs <strong>in</strong> the form of sugges-<br />

tions or ideas put by God <strong>in</strong>to the hearts or m<strong>in</strong>ds of pious<br />

men;<br />

(2) From beh<strong>in</strong>d a veil which occurs <strong>in</strong> the form of
