MILK AND DAIRY PRODUCTS<br />

IN HUMAN NUTRITION<br />

<strong>Milk</strong> <strong>and</strong> dairy products are a vital source of nutrition for<br />

many people. They also present livelihood opportunities for<br />

farm families, processors <strong>and</strong> other stakeholders <strong>in</strong> dairy value<br />

cha<strong>in</strong>s. Consumers, <strong>in</strong>dustry <strong>and</strong> governments need up-to-date<br />

<strong>in</strong>formation on how milk <strong>and</strong> dairy products can contribute to<br />

human nutrition <strong>and</strong> how dairy-<strong>in</strong>dustry development can best<br />

contribute to <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g food security <strong>and</strong> alleviat<strong>in</strong>g poverty.<br />

This publication is unique <strong>in</strong> draw<strong>in</strong>g together <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

on nutrition, <strong>and</strong> dairy-<strong>in</strong>dustry development, provid<strong>in</strong>g a<br />
