BACKGROUND1. All equipment <strong>and</strong> machinery shall be locked out or taggedout to protect against accidental or inadvertent start-up, oroperation that may cause injury to personnel performingmaintenance, service, repair, or modifications to machinery orequipment. Marine Corps personnel operating or attempting tooperate any switch, valve, or other energy isolating device thatis locked or tagged out may be subject to disciplinary action.12-4
