All <strong>safety</strong> helmets used shall meet st<strong>and</strong>ards of ANSI Z89.1-1997, American National St<strong>and</strong>ard for Protective Headwear forIndustrial Workers Requirements, <strong>and</strong> be labeled on the insidewith the manufacturer's name, ANSI designation (Z89.1), <strong>and</strong>protection class.4. Before each use, head protection must be visually inspectedfor shell or suspension damage. Head protection should bethoroughly washed every 30 days, or more frequently asnecessary.5. Head-hazardous areas are designated where there isreasonable possibility of head injury caused by cuts, bumps,falling or flying objects, <strong>and</strong> from limited electric shock <strong>and</strong>burns.6. Marine Corps personnel assigned to head-hazardous or hardhatareas shall wear approved industrial head protection that isappropriate to the exposure during the entire work shift. Anyother personnel entering head-hazardous areas shall wearappropriate head protection that is approved for the hazard.13005. HEARING PROTECTION1. Hearing protective devices shall be worn by all personnelwhen entering or working in an area where the operationsgenerate noise levels:a. Greater than 84 decibels, A weighted (dBA) sound level.13-6
