MARCOR OSH PROGRAM MANUAL 2000320003. WORK PRACTICE CONTROLS. Ensure work practice controlsof 29 CFR 1910.1030 and the following precautions areimplemented.1. No eating, drinking, handling contact lens, or applyingcosmetics in areas where a reasonable occupational exposure toblood or potentially infectious materials exists.2. No keeping of food or drink in refrigerators or freezers,shelves, cabinets, or on countertops where blood or otherpotentially infectious materials are present.3. Label and tape containers of body fluids for transport orshipping with a biological hazard label securely prior to beingtransported or shipped.4. Inspect equipment that may become contaminated with blood orother infectious materials prior to servicing or shipping, anddecontaminate as necessary.5. Personnel who suspect they were exposed to blood or otherinfectious materials shall wash the potentially contaminatedareas with soap and water as soon as possible after exposure,then wipe the area with a disinfecting bleach solution of onepart bleach to 10 (1 to 10) parts water.6. Individuals who suspect they have received mucous membraneexposure shall irrigate membrane for 15 minutes with water orsaline solution.7. Personnel who clean-up body fluids, including vomit andblood, shall do so by donning PPE to include gloves and eyeprotection. Cleaning includes wiping the area down, applyingdisinfecting bleach solution, and disposing of clean-up materialin accordance with local medical treatment facility SOP.8. Work centers shall be maintained in a clean and orderlyfashion.20-5
