13006 MARCOR OSH PROGRAM MANUAL2. Safety footwear with a built-in protective toe box isintended primarily to provide protection for the toes fromimpact <strong>and</strong> compression forces. These shoes shall conform to therequirements of ANSI Z41.1-1999, American National St<strong>and</strong>ard forPersonal Protection - Protective Footwear. Safety footwearissued for flight line operations shall also meet requirementsof OPNAVINST 3710.7T, Naval Air Training <strong>and</strong> OperatingProcedures St<strong>and</strong>ardization (NATOPS) General Flight <strong>and</strong> OperatingInstructions.3. All <strong>safety</strong> footwear shall conform to requirements of ANSIZ41.1 stated above. Approved <strong>safety</strong> footwear will have ANSIZ41.1 stamped on the inside by the manufacturer.13007. EYE PROTECTION1. Marine Corps personnel working in eye-hazardous areas oroperations identified in the PPE survey shall be providedadequate eye protection at organizational expense. All personsentering an eye-hazardous area or a hazard radius of aneye-hazardous operation, including other workers, supervisors,or visitors, shall also be required to wear eye protection.2. Objectives of this program are to safeguard personnel fromeye injuries by providing protective eye wear.3. Eye-Hazardous Areas. Personnel working or visiting in suchareas shall be furnished with <strong>and</strong> required to wear eyeprotective equipment. Eye-hazardous areas shall be included onthe PPE survey. Whenever new processes or procedures areadopted, or changes are made, an evaluation shall be conductedby the ISM or responsible industrial hygienist.a. Warning signs with "EYE HAZARD WHILE EQUIPMENTOPERATING" shall be displayed prominently at entrances <strong>and</strong>inside eye hazardous areas. All personnel working in orentering these places shall wear appropriate eye protection.b. Warning decals or signs with "WEAR GOGGLES WHILEOPERATING THIS MACHINE" shall be placed on equipment involvingeye hazardous operations as indicated by the PPE survey.13-8
