Respirators shall be stored in such a way as to preventcrushing which can result in deformation of face piece.c. Respirators shall not be stored by hanging from the headstraps.12. Repair <strong>and</strong> Maintenancea. Only trained <strong>and</strong> qualified personnel shall performrespirator assembly <strong>and</strong> repair.b. Repair of respirators shall be accomplished with theappropriate parts designated by the respirator manufacturer.Parts from one manufacturer will not be used on anothermanufacturer's respirators, including filters <strong>and</strong> cartridges.c. No attempt shall be made to replace, adjust, or repairrespirator components beyond the manufacturer's recommendations.13. Breathing air for supplied air <strong>and</strong> self-contained breathingapparatus (SCBA) respirators must meet Grade D specifications ofCGA Pamphlet G-7.1, Compressed Gas Association, Inc., CommoditySpecification for Air.14. Medical Examinationsa. Activities shall not fit test personnel, or assign themto work in or permit them to enter, areas requiring respiratoryprotection unless medically evaluated by a physician or otherlicensed health care professional per NEHC-TM OM-6260,Occupational Medicine Surveillance Procedures Manual <strong>and</strong> MedicalMatrix.b. Users of prescription eye wear who must wear a full-facerespirator shall be fitted with respirator spectacles asrecommended by the respirator manufacturer <strong>and</strong> prescribed by anoptometrist or ophthalmologist.13-16
