Hazardous materials purchased by the military exchangesystem for subsequent resale; however, the Consumer ProductSafety Commission or other regulatory agency may regulate saleof that material.b. Acquisition of chemicals <strong>and</strong> other hazardous materialsfor use by qualified professionals in laboratories as defined in29 CFR 1910.1200.c. Receipt, storage, <strong>and</strong> h<strong>and</strong>ling of ammunition <strong>and</strong>explosives at DoD activities are governed by DoD Directive6055.9-STD, DoD Ammunition <strong>and</strong> Explosives <strong>safety</strong> manuals <strong>and</strong>regulations. Marine Corps management <strong>and</strong> <strong>safety</strong> policy formunitions are also contained in the MCO P8020.10A, Marine CorpsAmmunition Management <strong>and</strong> Explosives Safety Policy Program.Joint publication DLAI 4145.11/TM 38-410/NAVSUP PUB 573/AFJMAN23-209/MCO 4450.12A, Storage <strong>and</strong> H<strong>and</strong>ling of Hazardous Materialscontains general broad procedures applicable to the storage ofammunition <strong>and</strong> explosives to assist warehousing personnel inperforming their jobs more effectively.17002. RESPONSIBILITIES1. Comm<strong>and</strong>ers, department heads, <strong>and</strong> <strong>dir</strong>ectors shall ensure useor disposal of hazardous materials complies with this Manual,MCO 5090.2A <strong>and</strong> MCO 4450.12A. Installations, tenant comm<strong>and</strong>s onDoD installations, <strong>and</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>s conducting training operationsonboard DoD installations shall comply with DLAI 4145.11/TM 38-410/NAVSUP PUB 573/AFJMAN 23-209/MCO 4450.12A.2. Supervisors of personnel conducting operations withhazardous materials shall:a. Ensure each work center is inspected <strong>and</strong> an inventory isdeveloped of all hazardous materials on h<strong>and</strong>. The inventoryshall include both open-purchase <strong>and</strong> Government stock items <strong>and</strong>shall also include miscellaneous cleaning materials <strong>and</strong>17-4
