7006 MARCOR OSH PROGRAM MANUALcritical, serious, or moderate (RAC 1, 2, or 3), a NAVMC 11400,OSH Deficiency Notice, advising exposed personnel of the unsafe<strong>and</strong>/or unhealthful working condition, shall be posted by thesupervisor of the workplace in the immediate vicinity of thehazardous condition.2. The notice shall remain posted until the hazardous conditionhas been abated or for 30 working days, whichever is later.Upon notification of abatement, the <strong>safety</strong> inspector shallauthorize removal of the notice <strong>and</strong> appropriate documentation ofthe hazard abatement.7007. INTERIM CONTROLS. It is recognized immediate abatementof deficiencies in work areas may not always be possible <strong>and</strong>some temporary deviation of <strong>safety</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ards may be required.Therefore, it is necessary the supervisor <strong>and</strong> <strong>safety</strong> inspectorestablish appropriate interim controls as soon as a deficiencyis noted. Such controls shall be outlined <strong>and</strong> followed on theNAVMC 11400, OSH Deficiency Notice. Interim control measures tobe in effect for more than 60 days must be approved by the ISM.7008. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS. When corrective actions cannot beaccomplished within 30 days due to circumstances beyond thecontrol of the work center supervisor, assistance should berequested from the an appropriate higher authority. Records ofactions taken to effect compliance, such as work requests forassistance, shall be annotated in Section B of the NAVMC 11400,OSH Deficiency Notice, until corrective measures areimplemented. After 30 days, the notice should be annotated witha weekly update unless the interim measures have been deemed tobe appropriate for a longer period of time.7009. HAZARD ABATEMENT LOG1. Safety managers shall establish a hazard abatement log forfollow-up of required corrective action to ensure timely <strong>and</strong>effective controls are implemented.7-12
