MARCOR OSH PROGRAM MANUAL 160032. Action Level. The action level means personnel exposure,without regard to the use of respirators, to an airborneconcentration of lead of 30 ug/m 3 of air averaged over an 8-hourperiod. Personnel who are or may be exposed above the actionlevel are required to be provided training <strong>and</strong> placed in amedical surveillance program.3. Personnel Notification. Any monitored individual shall benotified in writing about the results of the monitoring within 5working days after receipt of exposure data.16003. RESPONSIBILITIES1. Comm<strong>and</strong>ers, department heads, <strong>and</strong> <strong>dir</strong>ectors shall ensurework operations using lead or materials containing lead areconducted per this Manual, 29 CFR 1910.1025 <strong>and</strong> 29 CFR 1926.62.Ensure the ISO is notified before commencing self-help projectsin which paint removal or s<strong>and</strong>ing will be performed to ensurelead levels are identified <strong>and</strong> appropriate <strong>safety</strong> precautionsare established.2. Supervisors of personnel conducting operations with lead orlead containing materials shall:a. Notify the ISM or unit <strong>safety</strong> officer before commencingoperations that may generate any amount of airborne lead. Thiswill ensure all proper PPE is provided <strong>and</strong> environmental workcenter containment <strong>and</strong> monitoring is conducted.b. Ensure personnel who enter lead controlled boundariesare trained per 29 CFR 1910.1025, 29 CFR 1926.62 <strong>and</strong> thisManual, <strong>and</strong> are knowledgeable in the provisions of this chapter<strong>and</strong> the work to be conducted.c. Ensure personnel who are assigned duties inside of leadcontrolled boundaries receive required medical examinationsgiven by the responsible MTF.d. Provide technical support <strong>and</strong> guidance on writtenaspects of the Lead Safety Program.16-5
