CMC (SD) will review the proposed alternate st<strong>and</strong>ard, <strong>and</strong>upon concurrence, forward it to AD<strong>US</strong>D (ESOH) for approval, viaASN (I&E).4. Upon approval of the alternate criteria, the originatingMarine Corps comm<strong>and</strong> shall include the alternate st<strong>and</strong>ard inimplementing instructions prepared under paragraph 6003, with anotation that instructions contain an approved alternatest<strong>and</strong>ard.5. The following are not considered alternate OSH st<strong>and</strong>ards,<strong>and</strong> do not require approval by procedures set forth in paragraph6004.2:a. Actions that increase the stringency of Marine Corps<strong>safety</strong> program criteria (e.g., increase the frequency ofprescribed inspections).b. Actions that implement more current editions of nationalconsensus st<strong>and</strong>ards referenced in OSHA st<strong>and</strong>ards.c. Criteria <strong>and</strong> procedures developed locally <strong>and</strong>implemented to control hazards for which no Marine Corps OSHst<strong>and</strong>ard(s) exists.d. Interim alternative protective measures adopted whileawaiting completion of an abatement project.6005. <strong>US</strong>E OF THE TERM STANDARDS. To achieve maximumst<strong>and</strong>ardization <strong>and</strong> to comply with Executive Order (E.O.) 12196,Occupational Safety <strong>and</strong> Health Programs for Federal Employees,use of the term "st<strong>and</strong>ards" by a Marine Corps comm<strong>and</strong> todescribe any implementing instruction defined in paragraph6003 is discouraged. However, if a comm<strong>and</strong>er determines use ofthis term is required, such component "st<strong>and</strong>ards" shall:6-7
