A copy of the lead st<strong>and</strong>ard, its appendices, <strong>and</strong> any othermaterials from OSHA pertaining to lead must be made readilyavailable to all personnel working with lead, including thoseexposed below the action level.16006. WARNING SIGNS AND CAUTION LABELS. Warning signs shallbe posted at each location where airborne lead may exceed thePEL of 50 ug/m 3 as an eight hour TWA. See 29 CFR 1910.1025 <strong>and</strong>29 CFR 1926.62 for information on how to calculate the PEL forwork shifts longer than eight hours. These signs may contain alisting of required PPE <strong>and</strong> shall state as a minimum:WARNINGLEAD WORK AREAPOISONNO SMOKING, EATING, OR DRINKING16007. HO<strong>US</strong>EKEEPING. Compressed air shall not be used to cleanwork surfaces or personnel clothing. Vacuuming withHEPA-filtered vacuum cleaners or washing down with tri-sodiumphosphate based cleaners is recommended. Wet sweeping,shoveling, or brushing shall only be used when other methodshave been tried <strong>and</strong> found to be ineffective or not feasible. Atno time will dry-sweeping be employed. Cleaning materials,boundary materials, <strong>and</strong> wastewater shall be treated as leadcontaminated hazardous materials.16008. WORKER NOTIFICATION. Within 5 working days afterreceipt of a health hazard evaluation, the responsibleindustrial hygienist shall notify each worker in writing of hisor her exposure. Whenever results indicate a worker was exposedabove the PEL without regard to respirator use, the statement16-9
