5001 MARCOR OSH PROGRAM MANUALb. First aid <strong>and</strong>/or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)training is required for <strong>safety</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>occupational</strong> healthspecialists. The courses must be certified through the AmericanHeart Association, American Red Cross, or equivalentcertification program.c. Installation Safety Offices (ISOs) shall develop <strong>and</strong>instruct, upon request, the following <strong>safety</strong> courses: tactical<strong>safety</strong>, explosive <strong>safety</strong>, range <strong>safety</strong>; hazard recognition,analysis <strong>and</strong> abatement; mishap investigation, <strong>safety</strong>inspections, hazardous materials <strong>and</strong> emergency action planning,<strong>safety</strong> program evaluations, conducting <strong>safety</strong> training,conducting operational risk assessments, <strong>safety</strong> research,preparation of reports <strong>and</strong> other documentation, inspectionprocesses, follow-up procedures, equipment <strong>and</strong> facility design,st<strong>and</strong>ards application, analysis of mishap data, <strong>and</strong> otherrelated tasks. ISMs shall ensure training is documented inappropriate personnel records <strong>and</strong> maintain an IDP of eachperson's training <strong>and</strong> qualifications.5002. TRAINING STANDARDS. When <strong>safety</strong> <strong>and</strong> health trainingst<strong>and</strong>ards are not available or existing st<strong>and</strong>ards are notadequate, training st<strong>and</strong>ards shall be developed or updatedlocally. Training st<strong>and</strong>ards may include SOPs, technical<strong>dir</strong>ectives, operator instruction manuals, etc. These st<strong>and</strong>ardswill ensure all steps are included to perform the applicabletask in a safe <strong>and</strong> healthful manner. Supervisors will ensuresuitability of the st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong> maintain them at the applicablework location. Supervisors will coordinate locally developed<strong>safety</strong> <strong>and</strong> health st<strong>and</strong>ards with the ISM or <strong>safety</strong> officer forinitial review <strong>and</strong> approval, <strong>and</strong> at least annually thereafterfor updates. ISMs <strong>and</strong> <strong>safety</strong> officers shall oversee local<strong>safety</strong> training st<strong>and</strong>ards to ensure their adequacy withassistance from the responsible industrial hygienist (whenapplicable).5003. COORDINATION AND DOCUMENTATION1. Safety <strong>and</strong> health training conducted on Marine Corpsinstallations will be coordinated with the ISM. ISMs will5-8
