Any work performed to prepare a machine orequipment to perform its normal production operation.30. Tagout. The placement of a tagout device on an energyisolatingdevice, in accordance with an established procedure,to indicate that the energy isolating device <strong>and</strong> the equipmentbeing controlled may not be operated until the tagout device isremoved.31. Tagout Device. A prominent warning device, such as a tag<strong>and</strong> a means of attachment, which can be securely fastened to anenergy isolating device in accordance with an establishedprocedure to indicate that the energy isolating device <strong>and</strong> theequipment being controlled may not be operated until the tagoutdevice is removed.32. Universal Precautions. An infection control approachwhereby all human blood <strong>and</strong> certain body fluids are treated asif they were known to be infectious for HIV, HBV, HCV or otherbloodborne pathogens.33. Work Center. Military unit or a component of theinstallation organization identified by trade or type of workperformed.34. Work Center Risk Factors (Ergonomic). Actions in the workcenter, work center conditions, or a combination thereof, thatmay cause or aggravate a musculoskeletal disorder (MSD). Workcenter risk factors include, but are not limited to, repetitive,forceful or prolonged exertions; frequent or heavy lifting;pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects; a fixed or awkwardwork posture, contact stress, localized or whole body vibration,cold temperatures, <strong>and</strong> poor lighting (leading to awkwardpostures). Work center factors can be intensified by workorganization characteristics such as inadequate work-restcycles, excessive work pace or duration, unaccustomed work, lackof task variability, machine work, <strong>and</strong> piece rate.35. Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorder (Ergonomic). Aninjury or illness of the muscles, tendons, ligaments, peripheralB-6
