retical concerns and by the creating appropriate tools circumscribes issues
daily in parallel with that mentality, so that these concerns to conquer the new
areas of research and established itself not only in the scholarly circles but
also in the public consciousness, history reader and consumer.
The research of I. Scurtu are among the most recent approach to daily life
of Romanians in the interwar period, and the recital is very important from
the chronological point of view but also in terms of content are very close to
what we wanted to achieve in the pages of our work.
Daily problem, complex and varied in terms of the content and coverage,
is a relatively new topic, least researched in Romanian historiography. Much
less the question of daily life in the Moldovan historiography, evidence is the
fact that currently there are few studies that would address this problem. We
can certainly say that this area remains not explored very much by the Prut-
Dniester’s space historians. That’s why, it requires further studies on this
subject.
Several attempts historical approach in this respect were made by historians
E. Dragnev, I. Casu and V. Pâslariuc, within the UNESCO Chair in
Southeast European Studies. These authors have initiated under the heading
„Adio, Secolul XX” in Capital magazine, the presentation of the development
of the Kishinev society until 70 years of the twentieth century. Adopting
the same principles of treating the history, set by the The Annals School, the
authors highlight the features of the living environment of residents of
Chisinau, emphasizing both the progress and the problems facing Chisinau’s
society, now being modernized.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, there are many works which address issues
of the social history, economic, political and cultural space of the Romanian,
in general, or of Bessarabia, in particular, make direct reference to its capital,
Chisinau. They contain a variety of thematics and cover a wide chronological
segment, and different views and approaches of the problems outlined.
Some tangential issues addressed in the paper were taken from studies
addressing the national liberation movement of Romanians from Bessarabia,
under Tsarist rule, who knew a considerable momentum in the second half
of the nineteenth century - early twentieth century. Most of these scholars,
including Gh. Negru, V. Popovschi, D. Poştarencu, I. Varta, supported the
idea that the national liberation movement which included Bessarabia in the
late nineteenth century and experienced a great extent in the early twentieth
century, was driven by intensifying the struggle for the national rights and
the increasing number of periodicals of the time in the Romanian language,
